UW Panel: Coronavirus and Pandemic Disease Preparedness - What We know and the Way Forward

The first U.S. case of the novel coronavirus (2019 nCoV) was diagnosed here in Washington – bringing home the fact that pathogens know no borders, and highlighting the importance of our local public health expertise and coordinated response. The UW MetaCenter for Pandemic Disease Preparedness and Global Health Security is convening this forum to bring colleagues from diverse sectors together to shed light on the evolving epidemic, explore unanswered questions and discuss ways forward. Panelists include:
• Beth Bell, UW MetaCenter; Former Director, CDC National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases
• George Diaz, Infectious Diseases, Providence Regional Medical Center, the doctor who treated the first Coronavirus patient in the U.S.
