Flaming Swipe Technique Acrylic Pour on Hexagon MDF Panel. Absolutely Gorgeous. One of My Favourites

I wanted to use the swipe technique acrylic pour and create a flame themed painting on a hexagon MDF panel (my husband cuts the panels for me). I used the bloom technique cell activator as my swipe colour because I know it gives great results. I primed the MDF panel using Zinnser primer and sealer, the paint I used on the heart last week did crack a little so I primed this time to see if it makes any difference, I will keep you informed with how this one dries.
I took my time with this swipe, to be honest I always have to take me time with swipes, if I don't they will most certainly end up a mess. It was nice to use the lazy Susan as it meant I didn't have to reach across the painting to do the other side and risk messing it up. I do love how this little prop helps so much, even scraping the drips at the end is effortless. The plastic strips are my go to swiping tool, I have multiple widths and they are so easy to wipe clean and reuse.

The pebeo iridescent red blue and Colourarte in hot cinnamon really stood out in this one and I love how the DecoArt neon found a few places to shine through. I am disappointed that I lost almost all of my golden iridescent gold but this piece is too pretty to be mad at that. I absolutely LOVE how it turned out, it is without a doubt one of my all time favourite swipes.

Paints used:
Colours - DecoArt neon in fiery red. Golden fluid acrylics in quinacridone violet (cell activator) and iridescent gold. Amsterdam standard in naphthol red medium. Pebeo iridescent in red blue.
Bases and swipe - Amsterdam standard in oxide black (one separately mixed as cell activator and used as the swipe colour) mixed with Amsterdam specialities in graphite.

Cell Activator mixed with only Australian floetrol, other colours mixed with my usual pouring medium (see below for details)

My pouring medium is 50% Floetrol, 30-35% Liquitex Pouring Medium and 15-20% Water. Generally, the paints are 2:1 (pouring medium to paint) and if needed I will thin further with more water to get the right consistency. Again, some paints require less pouring medium than others. My ratio also varies depending on the paint brand and even the colour, but this is the most uniform figures I have. I hope it helps.
