Argyll Sea Kayak Trail - West Loch Tarbert to Oban 2016

On day 1 we set off from West Loch Tarbert and paddled around Ardpatrick point, the conditions were calm on the Loch but became more challenging as we headed into open water. Force 3/4 winds created waves between 1.5 and 2.5 metres with some estimated at nearing 3 metres.

On day 2 we paddled across Loch Caolisport around, Danna Island into the sound of Jura. We planned to get to Carsaig Bay but had to stop as the weather conditions turned and the sea became to rough to paddle safely.

On day three, we paddled up the sound of Jura in very calm conditions to Crinan for lunch followed by a hasty sprint out through Doris Mor before the tide got into full flow (6nts), we only just made it as the tide was already running against us as we sneaked round Craignish point.

On day four we had the tide running with us all day and with a bit of wind assistance we paddled across Loch Melfort and into Seil sound down to Clachan for lunch. Steak pie dinners all round followed by pudding and a pint to wash it all down, lovely. To finish we paddled through Clachan Sound and up the Sound of Kerrera, across Oban Bay to the welcome site of our cars at Ganavan.

Four days in total, all challenging in their own way. A very baron and remote landscape. A good bunch of guys and some breathtaking scenery makes this one to remember for a long time.

I'm planning the next adventure already.
