PMO's High-Level Meet As US Tariffs On Indian Goods Set To Double

The Prime Minister's Office is set to convene a high-level meeting to review relief measures for Indian exporters. This comes as the United States prepares to double tariffs on Indian goods from 25% to 50%, effective from the 27th of August. The meeting, to be chaired by the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, aims to finalise a plan to support exporters, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which are vulnerable to such external shocks. The government has stated it "will find a way out regardless of the kind of economic pressure that they are facing from Washington."
