Astrology (rare 78rpm side A)- Joe E. Lewis

Here is a rare 78rpm recording by legendary comedian Joe E. Lewis entitled "Astrology", written by Eli Bass. Joe is, as always, accompanied by Mr. Austin Mack at the piano. 🎶Im just as blue as I can be since my gal took up astrology. When I say, “let’s elope”, she says, “don’t be a dope”, her horoscope says she’s not for me. Oh, you great big solar system and oh, you stars above. Just because I wasn’t born in July, have I no right to love?

She has a zodiac like Venus, her borealis makes me feel precarious, but she says there’s an obstacle between us, cause I’m a Scorpion and she’s a Sagittarius. 

Now, Aries can romance with a Cancer, I’m healthy, but still, there are such barriers. “Cancer shmancer”, that’s her answer, cause I’m a Scorpion and she’s a Sagittarius. 

Since the stars threw us asunder she wants none of my thunder, is it any wonder I’m still alive? And my parents made a blunder, cause the sign I was born under says “visiting hours from three to five”.

Just because I’m not a Taurus or a Leo, she says there’s something wrong with my Aquarius. Confidentially, I know that’s she’s no Virgil, cause I’m a Scorpion and she’s a Sagittarius.

Oh, Neptune and Apollo, Mr. Mercury and Mars, why don’t you Greeks leave me alone? To me you’re Capricorny, hit the road with all your stars, I’ve got a Big Dipper of my own!

Those horoscopes have me under the weather, I cannot grope the dope that they are giving. Cause I know two who get along together, the one’s a Republican, and the other one works for a living!
