Dyeing Silk With Alcohol Ink

In this fun YouTube LIVE, Nancy shows how to use alcohol inks to dye silk. You can create some beautiful patterns. Nancy used Yupo paper to make some designs. She moves next to a silk scarf from Jacquard that already has a rolled finished hem. Fold the scarf several times. Use Ranger alcohol inks or Copic alcohol ink refills plus isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle and a paintbrush. Drip or squirt ink in different patterns on the silk. You can use the different alcohol inks from all the companies that make them to add additional colors. Once you have all the colors you want on the silk, spray with the isopropyl alcohol to blend the colors. Use the paintbrush end to move the ink into areas of the scarf without ink. Add ink as needed and move around with the paintbrush end. Leave on your surface to dry. Heat set with your iron and wash.
