My Return Home/Ghana Africa October 2023
There is so much to say about my return to Africa. I felt every emotion of happiness, joy, pain, sorrow, empathy. I felt the emotions of my Ancestors and where they stood. From the Elmina Castle slave dungeons to the Slave River I am forever changed. Every black person in America needs to travel to Ghana to see what was done to us there. It was inhumane and it hurt me to my soul. But the resilience and strength of my sisters and brothers in Africa resonate with every fiber of my soul. I am not my sisters keeper. I am my sister.
When I landed in Ghana at the Kimona airport, I wanted to kiss the ground immediately. We stayed at three hotels. Movenpick in Accra, Lemon Beach Resort in Cape Coast and Lancaster Hotel in Kumasi. The food was soooo good and natural tasting with no additives to be found. I ate FUFU!!!! The naming ceremony in Adanwomase village honored me with my African name Akosua Addae of the Ashanti Kingdom. We went horseback riding. rode ATV's in the lush forest of Ghana and survived the Canopy . It was an amazing experience . We went to Jamestown and catered a meal with the children of there and gave them candies and some school supplies. We bathe in the waters of the waterfalls . I have so many memories and I can't wait to get back to Ghana. Africa is for Africans and African Americans.
