"Taman: The Edge of the World," is a new documentary film by Karen B. Song. The film documents the struggles of the residents of Taman, Russia, as they fight to protect their community from oil and other industrial development, which is threatening their environment, economy and way of life. The International Finance Corporation--part of the World Bank Group--provided $100 million in financing to build the Russkiy Mir oil terminal in the heart of a fishing and agricultural community, and against the wishes of the local population.
