Birch Aquarium at Scripps - A learning Aquarium located in La Jolla California
The Scripps Aquarium in La Jolla first opened 1951. The aquarium was replaced with a modern version in 1992. It opened up as the Birch Aquarium at a cost to build of 14 million dollars. UC San Diego donated the land for the site.
This is not a huge aquarium but it is a very nice small one in a wonderful area. It sits high on the hill over looking the Scripps institute of Oceanography. It is completely run by students and provides a learning atmosphere for all ages. There extensive studies on several species and a fantastic one on the seahorse population.
The annual attendance of this aquarium is around 439,000 a year.

We love travel and when we go beyond the West, we will show that as well. We love to show history and historic places along with places the entire family can enjoy.
