Going no contact with my narcissistic mother || Part 1
I have decided to go no contact with my narcissistic mother. This decision has been a long time coming. In the past it felt impossibly difficult to accept that it's for the best, but today it feels simple.
(Pssst! Check out my 6 months update hereee: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAk0gi9cTfE&t=25s )
Oh, the amount of times I've been speaking to someone from a place of hurt about this relationship and received the response, "but she's your mom!"
If I was speaking about anyone else in my life, this decision would be simple. I'm an unhappier version of myself when I interact with this person, so don't interact with this person. However, society holds mothers in such a golden light, I am conditioned to accept the abuse on obligatory terms.
Today, I love myself. I put myself first, always. I know what I do and do not deserve. I chose how I tolerate being treated, and mom or not, she no longer makes the cut.
If you're in a toxic relationship out of fear, obligation or guilt (FOG), I encourage you to take some time away and ponder your worth. Ponder what truths are being subconsciously reinforced by staying in this relationship. Perhaps that you deserve this treatment, that you have no control over changing how you're being treated, or that you are whatever this person says you are.
Well, my friend, in case you're in need of a reminder, YOU DESERVE ABUNDANT, UNCONDITIONAL RESPECT AND LOVE. You have all the power in the world to do whatever you want. You can change anything about your life at any time. It's up to you to start living like it.
If you are struggling with a toxic relationship in your life, feel free to share your experience in the comments! You never know who needs to hear your story.
Happy Healing (:
