Russian Army Parade, Victory Day 1996 Парад Победы

This is the parade on Moscow's Red Square devoted to the 51st anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, 9 May 1996. This parade is notable for starting the new tradition of marching in the Banner of Victory to open the parade. It was also the first and only time the parade would start at 9AM instead of the usual 10AM. It would also be the last time the tribune on Lenin's Mausoleum would be used for the Russian leadership to stand on. Taking the salute is Russian Defense Minister, General of the Army Pavel Grachev. Commanding the parade is commander of the Moscow Military District, Colonel General Leonid Kuznetsov. Music performed by the Combined Orchestra of the Moscow Garrison conducted by Lieutenant General Viktor Afanyasev.
