Listening Exercise - Fast Paced Portuguese

Listening to fast paced Portuguese is also another strategy you can incorporate into your daily practices. Even if you feel you can't follow along, just listening to the sounds and rhythm of Portuguese is almost a subconscious way your brain is absorbing the language!
Today I have a clip from an intro to a wine tasting session. Let me know what you think of this video and if you would like more videos of this type in the future.
Please note that the resulting "linked" words in this video are not the way they would ever be written. I'm not a trained linguist nor am I an expert in Portuguese phonetics but it's a subject that speaks to me quite literally. I offer you my views on pronunciation through the eyes and ears of someone who went through the process of learning Portuguese myself as a foreigner (albeit when I was very young). I have a huge interest in this subject and I'm always trying to learn more and improve my knowledge on it.

Portuguese is a stress-time language and so many people struggle with understanding Portuguese when it's spoken to them or wonder why people will switch to English because they see you struggle with the pronunciation when YOU are trying to speak. I colour code my onscreen subtitles with light blue to represent the stressed syllable. I use the colour red to represent either a letter cancellation or suppression (usually a vowel). I haven't illustrated all the suppressions in this video because the words are not in sentences. Usually, when you say a word on its own in Portuguese, suppressions happen less frequently. I offer you my views on pronunciation through the eyes and ears of someone who went through the process of learning Portuguese myself as a foreigner (albeit when I was very young). I have a huge interest in this subject and I'm always trying to learn more and improve my knowledge on it. My pronunciation videos are examples of fast, colloquial, and most of the time, informal speech. The more informal demonstrations are demonstrations of the Algarvian Portuguese accent.
