The Fontane Sisters - Happy Days and Lonely Nights (1954)
Charted at #18 in Billboard in August 1954. This record gave the Fontane Sisters a comeback to the charts after their last previous chart record in 1951, "Cold, Cold Heart". After "Happy Days and Lonely Nights", they would go on to place many more records on the charts through to 1958. They were also known for their recordings with Perry Como, and they are one of my favorite sister musical groups.
Other chart versions of this song over the years: #13 for Ben Selvin's Knickerbockers in December 1928 (which I've also posted), #9 for Ruth Etting in 1928, #12 for Frankie Vaughan in January 1955 (in the UK), #14 for Suzi Miller and the Johnston Brothers in January 1955 (in the UK), #6 for Ruby Murray in February 1955 (in the UK) and #88 for Connie Francis (Cash Box Singles chart) in 1958 (which I've posted).
Also recorded by Vaughn DeLeath, Eva Taylor, Ken Dodd, Dick James, Kathy Kirby, Kay Starr, Max Bygraves, Russ Conway, and Ted Heath.
Written by Billy Rose and Fred Fisher.
The other side of this record is "If I Didn't Have You".
