Metamorph (Version 1) - A Ted Chalfen Film

A three minute documentary of sorts that looks at the relationship of two buildings on CU's campus: Macky Auditorium and the Atlas Building, and how they relate to the changes in film formats and history over the last century. It also gets somewhat autobiographical in sections, because I can't help myself.

This was done for my Alternative Processes class last semester at CU. This is the digital version of the film. It was later printed to 16mm film and shown with an optical soundtrack.

This film uses three formats: Lab developed Super-8 film, hand developed 16mm film, and miniDV tape. The different formats were all digitized and edited together on a computer, before being printed to film stock for the screening. I may upload the screening version later. The main difference is that the screening version is entirely black and white, but there's also a huge difference in the way that the tape footage looks.
