Life As a Teenager in Juvenile Detention | Behind Bars: Documentary Interview

In this sit-down interview inside a juvenile detention center, teenager Paradise discussed the difficult issues she'd faced in life that ultimately landed her behind bars. Paradise's story was one that included family turmoil and depression, something many of the kids at the detention center also shared. During the interview, she also discussed her dad being in and out of jail, constantly moving from place to place as a child, running away from home several times and also admitted she sometimes felt safer inside detention than she did at home. Her comments were a reminder that for many kids, life on the outside was a daily struggle to survive.

Update: Once released from detention, Paradise has not been back in the system.
