New life for waste flowers, and for these women too

Flowers offered at temples are beautiful — and also a threat to India’s rivers once they’re thrown away, polluting the waters.

HelpUsGreen is helping to clean the rivers by recycling the flowers. But they are also giving another segment of society a chance to bloom in new ways: Dalit women.

Struck by the discrimination and injustice faced by Dalits under India’s caste system, Ankit and Karan of HelpUsGreen are hiring marginalised women like Ranjana, empowering them with dignity and respect.
