New adds to the Doll Family, Louis Daniel Armstrong ny Effanbee Doll Corp. Mr. Armstrong was born on August 4, 1901 his nicknamed was “Satchmo” and “Ambassador Satch,” he was a New Orleans-born trumpeter, singer, and bandleader who revolutionized jazz and influenced popular music. His career spanned five decades, from the 1920s to the 1960s. Armstrong's innovative trumpet and cornet playing, gravelly voice, and charismatic stage presence made him a star. He's credited with perfecting the improvised solo, popularizing scat singing, and defining swing.
