Strait Of Hormuz Crisis: 13 Vessels Targeted, 400 Ships Anchored, 70% Traffic Drop | West Asia War

The Strait of Hormuz has become a zone of high tension as 13 vessels have been targeted during the West Asia conflict, affecting ships from eight flag states including the United States, Marshall Islands, Gibraltar, Panama, Malta, Bahamas, and Thailand. Seven mariners have been killed, and 400 ships have been anchored in fear of further attacks. Overall tanker traffic through the strait has dropped by 70 to 80 percent, putting 20 percent of the global oil supply at risk. India, which depends on the strait for about 45 percent of its energy requirements, has reportedly secured diplomatic assurances for the safe passage of Indian vessels. Sources indicate that External Affairs Minister Jaishankar and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi discussed protection for Indian ships. Around 24 Indian ships are stranded in the Persian Gulf and four in the Gulf of Oman, with approximately 750 Indian sailors aboard.
