Pros
1. Incredible Amenities
From the locker rooms to the showers and the strength equipment, everything is state of the art and maintained immaculately. There are also additional little things that go a long way to improving your gym experience, such as the cold eucalyptus towels and Kiehl’s grooming products available for all to use.

2. Fantastic Quality and Variety of Classes
Personally, I think this is where the true value of an Equinox membership lies. They host some of the best fitness classes in the entire industry with some of the best instructors as well. Take as many classes as you want, all included in your membership, and also take as many different types of classes as you can as well!

3. Convenience
Equinox does a great job of making your workout as stress free as possible. From short wait times to a seamless app experience, they make it so easy for you to want to go back to the gym again and again.

Cons
1. Price
There’s no denying it - Equinox is expensive by any metric. It can cost many times the cost of a typical gym membership, which makes it a hard value proposition to sell to most consumers in the market.

2. Equipment Selection
Equinox absolutely has everything you need to get fantastic workouts in, but at this price point, I would personally expect a little bit more selection, as they can lack some of the more specialised equipment that large commercial gyms might have. This isn’t an issue for me personally, but people with specialised programs that require specific machines may find this to be a downside.

3. Limited Hours
Equinox doesn’t operate any 24 hour clubs - a typically club might be open from 5am to 10pm on a typical day. That window would probably work for more people, but it also may not for people who work atypical hours or have a fluctuating schedule that requires them to work out extremely early or late on each day.

4. It’s A Bit Extra
In my opinion, Equinox attracts for the most part, a specific type of gym goer. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing (it might even be a good thing depending on what you’re looking for), but I can foresee it being a little much for more casual fitness enthusiasts.

I have personally really enjoyed my Equinox membership so far and plan on staying a member for a long time to come, but it really depends on what you’re looking for in a gym and the types of workouts you enjoy. I would personally say that Equinox tends to provide the most value to people who work out at least 4 or 5 times a week, and also enjoy taking numerous fitness classes as opposed to having typical lifting and/or cardio routines.
