Temper Cookie Supply List and Recipes

Paring knife to cut the cookie using the Temper image as a template
Chilled sheet of cookie dough
Flood consistency royal icing
Small decorating bags
Bag ties
Scissors
Scribe tool or toothpick
Paint palette or small dishes
Black food coloring
Yellow food coloring
Blue food coloring
Brown food coloring
Brown edible color dust
Alcohol or any flavor extract for painting
Food safe brushes
Cup of water to rinse brush

Icing colors:
Green = Yellow + Blue food coloring
Dark brown and light brown = Brown food coloring
White
Black = Black food coloring
Teal = Blue + yellow food coloring
Sugar Cookies
Yield 2 dozen cookies
3¼ cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 cups sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla bean paste (or vanilla extract)
Sift together flour, salt and baking powder. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Add flour mixture.
Chill dough for 1 hour.
Roll dough on floured surface to a little less than ¼” thick.
Cut out cookies and bake at 350ºF for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden brown

Royal Icing
3 ½ cups powdered sugar
5 tablespoons meringue powder
½ cup water, plus more for thinning
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
pinch of salt

Mix all ingredients on medium low speed with an electric mixer for 5 minutes, thin with remaining water and add color.
