Sewing Machine Fire Hazard #ELEHOSP

Many older sewing machines present a fire hazard. The light may have a switch that doesn't turn off all power to the motor and foot control. One of our customers reported her foot control burned her carpet. The chair was partially resting on the foot control. This was not enough to run the motor but created enough heat to scorch the carpet. Fortunately she was home and smelled the smoke. These old favorites should be rewired or unplugged when not attended. They will not pass current UL certification
