CROSSING THE DRAKE PASSAGE | On our way to Antarctica! 🐋🐧| Antarctica Cruise

First full Antarctica cruise day on Akademik Ioffe ship, on our way to the White Continent!

In order tor reach Antarctica, we have to endure the dreaded task of crossing the Drake Passage (aka Pasaje de Drake), where people often to get sick from the swaying ship.

Thankfully we already Drake proofed ourselves with motion sickness patches, as well as other medication for the duration of our Drake journey.

Obviously this day was a traveling day, and we had several very interesting presentations to learn more about the Antarctica. We learned about the many ice formations that we might be able to see on and around the continent.

One of our favorite rooms on the ship was the bridge - where all the important stuff happens. The Akademik Ioffe has an open bridge policy that allows passengers to come up and enjoy the view of the ocean and to see how things are run!

At night, the Drake Passage finally started to throw us around more than it did in the morning time. We had a few casualties both at the bar, as well as the dining room. Thankfully nobody was injured.
