"Magnifica Humanitas" (Magnificent Humanity), Leo's first encyclical, has been highly anticipated ever since history's first U.S.-born pope declared days after his election that he viewed AI as the greatest challenge confronting humanity today. Its release comes as President Donald Trump continued to share strings of unhinged AI-generated content on his Truth Social platform, including an image depicting himself as Jesus Christ, amid a public feud with the pope.
