What If Operation Downfall Succeeded? | Alternate History

We all know about the United States dropping of the Atomic Bombs (Fat Man and Little Boy) on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to bring an end to the Pacific theatre of World War Two, but there was a great uncertainty at the time that even this would force the Japanese to surrender, and so an alternative plan was devised, a total invasion and occupation of Japan's islands, known as Operation Downfall.
