What is demelan cream

What are the ingredients?
Glycolic acid 10%
Arbutin 5%
Kojic acid: 2%:
Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid.it is derived from sugar. It gently exfoliates the skin. This will cause the old skin to shed and new supple skin to form. It also stimulates collagen formation in the skin. This makes skin tighter over time,
You must remember that whenever you use a cream containing glycolic acid on your face. You have to use a sunscreen regularly. Because, when the skin is shedding or exfoliating it is also very sensitive to the effects of the sun. after applying any creams containing glycolic acid if you go out in the sun, there is a higher chance of getting tanned.
So, please remember to use a sunscreen with SPF 30 whenever you are using Demelan.

Arbutin: It is a derivative of hydroquinone. It is an effective alternative to hydroquinone. It is a naturally occurring agent extracted from bearberry plant. It has mild antimicrobial property. It inhibits the enzyme which makes melanin.

Kojic acid: It is a derivative of a fungi. It is also a by- product in fermentation process of rice. In addition to its skin lightening action, is known to have photo-protective, anti-inflammatory properties. It is rarely used as a solo agent. It works well in combination with other skin lightening agents. It is a relatively safe agent.
. This agent is usually available over the counter in a 2% concentration. It is important to keep in mind that kojic acid is a known sensitizer.
Where can it be used
Dark spot left behind after acne or any other skin lesion, melasma, freckles. It will lighten any pigmentation you have on your skin but will not change your natural skin colour.

How to apply: apply it on the whole face at night over a cleansed and toned face. If you wish to use a moisturiser, you may apply this as the base layer and apply moisturiser or your night cream on top.
Side effects: can cause dryness, itching , redness and scaling.

Safety profile: It is a safe medication. As it contains plant extract. It is best to do a small patch test before using it on the whole face. It is best to use it on the neck before you go ahead and apply it on the while face. Apply it on the neck and observe for next 24 hours.
Precautions to take: Apply this cream at night. Use a sunscreen.

What to expect:
