GriGri

This video shows climbing a mast using a GriGri SRT setup. It is fast both up and down and the easiest of all the techniques I tried. However, to get to the top of the mast, it requires re-rigging at the top and this can take almost as long as climbing the mast with a lot of opportunity to drop things or mess up. In addition, using a GriGri takes practice and can be frightening if used incorrectly. For these reasons I cannot recommend this method. For a review of 6 mast climbing methods visit L-36.com
