Euskal jaiak is Basque for "Basque Festival" celebrating Basque culture

For 50 years Elko has been a host to the National Basque Festival. Usually the celebration takes place on the 4th of July weekend. Humorously referred to as the "Basco Fiasco," it is a celebration of traditional Basque culture and its ties to the Elko community. The festival includes strongman competitions, handball, chorizo competition, traditional food and wine, and Basque Dancing and music.
