Planet size comparison in our Solar System
The planets in our solar system are vastly different in size, naturally dividing into two distinct groups: the four large outer gas/ice giants and the four smaller inner rocky planets. Jupiter is the largest, with a diameter roughly 11 times that of Earth, while Mercury is the smallest, at just over a third of Earth's size.
The planets are listed below from largest to smallest, with their approximate equatorial diameters compared to Earth.
. Gas Giants
Jupiter: ~142,984 km (about 11.2 times Earth’s diameter). It is the undisputed giant of the solar system; you could fit over 1,300 Earths inside of it.
Saturn: ~120,536 km (about 9.4 times Earth’s diameter). Known for its extensive ring system, it is the second-largest planet.

2. Ice Giants
Uranus: ~51,118 km (about 4 times Earth’s diameter).
Neptune: ~49,528 km (about 3.9 times Earth’s diameter). Although slightly smaller than Uranus, it is slightly more massive.
3. Terrestrial (Rocky) Planets
Earth: ~12,756 km. The largest of the rocky inner planets.
Venus: ~12,104 km (about 0.95 times Earth’s diameter). Often referred to as Earth's "twin" due to its similar size.
Mars: ~6,792 km (about 0.53 times Earth’s diameter).
Mercury: ~4,879 km (about 0.38 times Earth’s diameter). The smallest planet in our solar system.
