Reflections on Decoloniality: A Multidisciplinary Dialogue Ep 1
In this episode, our moderator David sits down with Assistant Professor Dr. Anotida Chikumbu for a powerful conversation on Decoloniality Reflections: A Multidisciplinary Dialogue.
Featured Guest
Dr. Anotida Chikumbu – Assistant Professor of African History, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, USA.
Dr. Chikumbu’s scholarship bridges African and global histories, focusing on slavery and resistance, colonialism, apartheid and nationalism, liberation movements, and post-conflict reconstruction. His latest article, “The Forgotten Narratives” (Brill, 2024), challenges Eurocentric knowledge frameworks by amplifying silenced histories.
He has taught in both Zimbabwe and the United States and contributes to conversations on military history, policy, and decolonial thought. He is a member of the Military Welfare History Network (University College Dublin), an inaugural Society for Military History Fellow at the National WWII Museum, and producer of the Anotida Chikumbu Book Series, an interdisciplinary academic television podcast.
About This Episode
This dialogue explores what decoloniality means today, why it matters for the Global South, and how history, scholarship, and education can challenge entrenched narratives and open pathways toward epistemic freedom.
