Sarah de Guia - Understanding Health Equity in Public Policy

A public health seminar recorded on February 27, 2017 featuring Sarah de Guia, JD, Executive Director, California Pan-Ethnic Health Network.

This seminar provided an opportunity to better understand the legislative and administrative policy processes in California. Using two case studies, participants learned how a bill becomes a law, how regulations are developed, and the role of an advocate. This seminar was particularly useful for Public Health and Public Policy students who wanted to understand the practical application of their degree in promoting health equity.

SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY

Sarah has advocated on reproductive justice, language access, and expanding health care to communities of color through legislative, budgetary and regulatory processes for close to 20 years. She is a graduate of Santa Clara University School of Law and earned her Bachelor of Arts from UC Berkeley in Ethnic Studies and Public Policy.
