Storage Bench -- Woodworking

I built this bench for some friends who have a toddler. They wanted a piece of furniture that could fit inside a built-in in their 100 year old craftsmen home. They wanted a bench where they could read to and hang out with their daughter. Storage inside of the bench to fill with her toys was essential as well.

In this build i use some traditional joinery, including doweling, lap joints, and rabbeted panels. I start by constructing the side panels, then the base frame, and the top. You will also see me construct the two drawers, and use Blum under-mount drawer slides for the hardware. I finish by spraying the bench white, and clear coating the inside of the drawers with General Finishes High Performance Water Based Top Coat.
