Adobong Pusit with Sprite Recipe
Ingredients
1 kilo fresh squid (cleaned and sliced into rings)
1 cup Sprite
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup vinegar
1 medium onion, sliced
5 cloves garlic, minced
2 thumb-sized ginger, sliced
2 pcs green chili (optional)
1 tsp ground black pepper
2 tbsp cooking oil
1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
Salt to taste
Spring onions for garnish (optional)
Procedure
Clean the squid well. Remove the ink sac if you don’t want the sauce too dark. Slice into rings and set aside.
Heat oil in a pan. Sauté garlic, onion, and ginger until fragrant.
Add the squid and cook for 2–3 minutes until it starts to release liquid.
Pour in the soy sauce and Sprite. Stir well and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
Add the vinegar. Do not stir for 1 minute to remove the strong vinegar taste.
Add black pepper, oyster sauce, and chili if using. Simmer for another 5–7 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens.
Taste and add salt if needed.
Transfer to a serving plate and garnish with spring onions.
Serve hot with steamed rice. 🍚
