My one and only goal with this cover was to make you, well.. nod your head :) Any fills or "chops" were kept to a minimum because I really didn't want to distract from the groove.

I've been working a lot on my feel and pocket in the past few months, and although I'm nowhere near where I want to be, I can definitely see some improvement, which is super encouraging! Strangely enough, being at Drum Channel and seeing so many incredible drummers play live has improved my creativity and perception of groove and feel HUGELY, but my physical and technical ability didn't improve at the same pace. So now I can HEAR what deep pocket and groove sounds like, but I can't always play it.. which is such a weird paradox. But I think being able to perceive good feel is the first step to HAVING good feel: you have to be able to hear where you're going wrong in order to change and improve. It's a bit frustrating at times, because my muscles aren't able to play what I'm hearing in my head.. but I'll get there!

Anyways, all that said: this performance is about trying my best to capture a really tight groove that makes you move and maybe makes you want to dance. Considering where I am at now in my drumming career, this is my best attempt right now.
