New York Giants Rookie Minicamp DAY 2 HIGHLIGHTS: Arvell Reese FIRST LOOK during DRILLS + MORE!
The New York Giants’ 2026 rookie minicamp is underway this weekend (May 8-10, 2026) at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center. Rookies reported earlier in the week for equipment fittings, photos, and meetings before taking the field Friday for the first of three days of on-field work (no pads/full contact). This is the first group session for the 2026 draft class, undrafted free agents (UDFAs), and select tryout players as they begin installing the playbook and competing for roster spots under new head coach John Harbaugh.
The minicamp roster is relatively small and includes:
• 7 draft picks + 7 UDFAs (recently signed, including one more RB on May 8).
• Tryout players (including specialists and a noted 410-pound OT).
• Pre-camp roster moves cleared space: The Giants waived four players (LB Swayze Bozeman, DLs Elijah Chatman and Marlon Tuipulotu, WR Courtney Jackson) to prioritize the incoming class.
Key 2026 draft picks on the roster (with jersey numbers assigned for camp):
• LB Arvell Reese (1st round, Ohio State, #52).
• OL Francis Mauigoa (1st round, Miami, #65).
• CB Colton Hood (2nd round, Tennessee, #12).
• WR Malachi Fields (3rd round, Notre Dame, #0).
• DL Bobby Jamison-Travis (6th round, Auburn, #97).
• OL J.C. Davis (6th round, Illinois, #74).
• LB Jack Kelly (6th round, BYU, #51).
Several lower-round picks and all seven UDFAs (including RB Damon Bankston from New Mexico, DTs Anquin Barnes Jr. and Ben Barten, CB Thaddeus Dixon, LS Ben Mann, OL Ryan Schernecke, and K Dominic Zvada) signed rookie contracts ahead of camp. Top picks (Reese, Mauigoa, Hood) remain unsigned but are fully participating.
On-Field Highlights (Through Day 2 on May 9 — open to media)
• OL Francis Mauigoa has stood out at guard. Harbaugh called him a “natural” there and indicated he’s a likely immediate starter at one of the guard spots this season. He’s been powerful in engagement drills.
• CB Colton Hood made the play of the (open) day in the 2-minute drill: closed downhill, stripped the ball from a RB after a completion to the flat, and returned it for a touchdown.
• WR Malachi Fields showed flashes with clean slant catches inside but also had a couple drops (including one downfield when wide open). He’s competing in a crowded receiver room.
• LB Arvell Reese and others are working at their projected positions with good early impressions.
• UDFA K Dominic Zvada (Michigan) went a perfect 5-for-5 on field goals in the open session, including what appeared to be a 55-yarder to close practice. Strong leg noted as a potential competitor.
• Practices have focused on fundamentals, playbook install, and individual development. Harbaugh emphasized working the rookies hard, meeting each player where they are (top picks vs. tryouts), and pushing them in a positive environment. Overall “good work this week” vibe so far.
Notable side note: Several veterans (including QB Jaxson Dart in Year 2, RB Cam Skattebo, and TE Theo Johnson) were on hand watching the rookies practice — a cool leadership touch not always seen.
The camp wraps Sunday, May 10. It’s mainly an evaluation/introduction period before OTAs begin later in May. Expect official practice highlights, more photos, and player/coach quotes to drop over the weekend (check Giants.com for the tracker and best-of galleries). Early buzz from reporters and social media is optimistic about the class fitting Harbaugh’s scheme, especially on the lines and in the secondary. For the full official minicamp roster and updates, Giants.com is the best source. This is just the beginning — measured excitement for a young group with immediate-impact potential at a few spots.
