Boyzone's Shane Lynch and Dyslexia

Dyslexic Shane Lynch from Boyzone says his life transformed after he realised he could speak Tweets into his phone.

AbilityNet helps hundreds of people like Shane every month to overcome barriers to work, study and social life because of a disability.

For a long time, Shane didn't use social media because his dyslexia made it difficult to read and write. But, once someone told him that he could set his phone so that he could speak his emails, Tweets and Facebook messages, and the phone would read messages for him too, it completely changed his life.

We see this every day at AbilityNet, helping disabled people use computers and tech to their advantage through workplace assessments, Disabled Student Allowance assessments and our volunteering service.

“Honestly it blew my mind, I couldn't believe that I was now about to enter into that world (of tech and social media)," says Shane. "I came on board with this little bit of technology that is now my best friend. If you can get hold of any technology that will help you forward, it's really, really worth doing.”
