How To/How I :: Sewing A Continuous Lap Tutorial :: Beautiful Couture Finish For Sleeves With Cuffs

Hey Peeps! I've always disliked patterns that would have you put a cuff in to a sleeve at the underarm seam; they don't sit right and it means I can't French seam the sleeve seam! We all know how I feel about that! the V9077 pattern had a continuous lap pattern piece and I love the finish it gives. So much so that I have applied it to 4 different dress patterns so far. You can of course use plackets to finish the opening and I really like how they look on garments with lots of other shirt details but I think this method gives a beautiful couture like finish without any obvious stitching on the outside of the sleeve.
