Predicting the Best Light for Landscape Photography

Predicting the best light for landscape photography is one of the most important things you can learn how to do. By knowing when the light has the best chance to be amazing, you can strategically plan your trips around those great conditions. And if there is one thing that separates a good landscape photo from a great one, it's amazing light from an oncoming storm, or a stunning sunrise or sunset.

In this video, I teach you all of the tools (both on a computer and a smartphone) that I use to predict when great light will be present.

First, we'll go through my basic ways of predicting weather using a simple google search. Then we will move in to a more advanced prediction method using a website called Dark Sky.

After that, we move to some of the mobile apps I like using, including Dark Sky, Clear Outside, Carrot, and Windy. I recommend using a combination of all of these apps to predict the best conditions, as each app offers unique tools that can aid your prediction.

Good luck using these tools to predict the best sunsets!
