Simulation of Drone using mission planner
In this video, I show how to simulate an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV / Drone) using Mission Planner with Ardupilot firmware. I create a virtual mission, test waypoint navigation, and analyze telemetry data in a safe simulator environment instead of flying a real drone.
This tutorial is useful for:
Beginners learning Mission Planner and Ardupilot.
Students and hobbyists working on BSc / Diploma / B.Tech drone projects.
Anyone who wants to test flight missions, RTL behavior, altitude control, and GPS‑based navigation before actual field testing.
What you’ll see in this video:
Installing and configuring Mission Planner for simulation.
Selecting the correct vehicle type (Multirotor/Copter) and firmware version.
Connecting to the software‑in‑the‑loop (SITL) simulator and arming the virtual drone.
Planning a mission with waypoints and uploading it to the simulated UAV.
Executing Auto mode and observing how the drone follows the path on the map and in the 3D view.
Useful for:
Engineering projects on UAV navigation, autonomous flight, and obstacle‑free path planning.
Practicing mission‑planning skills needed for drone‑based surveying, mapping, and delivery systems.
If you found this helpful, please like, share, and subscribe for more tutorials on Mission Planner, Ardupilot, UAV control, and simulation. Leave a comment if you want a part‑2 on advanced missions, geofencing, or integration with Python/ROS.
