Pentecost: Phyllis Hendry Halverson

Pentecost refers to the day when the Holy Spirit moved in power to anoint the early disciples for ministry. Dramatic events resulted from the Holy Spirit’s movement and attracted a crowd of people. When almost 3000 people responded to Peter’s message, the need to disciple new disciples emerged. The original one hundred and twenty mature disciples used four essential practices to disciple these novices. They put into practice the very things they had experienced while walking with Jesus during His earthly ministry. These “Being Habits” shaped the lives of the disciples and the practices of the early church. How do they shape your life and leadership?
Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. – Acts 2:41-42
