Wood Chips in Garden Soil Bad Idea?

Dirt Booster → https://amzn.to/3SBQLYY
Doc explains why putting wood chips INISIDE your soil is a bad idea unless you prepare them. Wood chips have a high carbon to nitrogen ratio and they tend to steal nutrients in order to decompose. Therefore we like to MULCH them before putting in the soil.
Wood chips, particularly when fresh, can temporarily tie up nitrogen in the soil during the process of decomposition. Microorganisms that break down the wood chips require nitrogen for their metabolic processes. As a result, there might be a temporary reduction in nitrogen availability for plants.
To mitigate potential nutrient tie-up, it's often recommended to allow wood chips to decompose for some time before incorporating them into the soil or planting directly into them. Additionally, adding nitrogen-rich amendments or fertilizers when using wood chips can help offset the initial nitrogen demand during decomposition.
