Hindu New Year throughout India 🇮🇳!!!

🌟 Hindus New Year across India! 🌟

While the Western world pops champagne on Jan 1st, for millions of Hindus, the real celebration of new beginnings happens in spring, rooted in centuries-old customs, regional culture, and spiritual symbolism.

Here’s how different regions of India ring in the Hindu New Year 👇

1️⃣ Navreh – Kashmir 🏔

Kashmiri Hindus start their year with the Navreh Thaal, which includes rice (abundance), coins (wealth), a pen and paper (learning), a mirror (self-reflection), and more. After seeing their reflection in the thali, they prepare Tahar – yellow rice – to mark the day.

2️⃣ Gudi Padwa – Maharashtra 🌸

A bright silk Gudi is hoisted outside homes symbolizing victory and prosperity. It also marks the harvest and arrival of spring.

3️⃣ Ugadi – Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka & Telangana 🌿

Celebrated with an oil bath, and a symbolic dish made from neem and jaggery, Ugadi represents the bittersweet nature of life.

4️⃣ Cheti Chand – Sindhi Community 🌊

Sindhis worship Jhulelal, the deity of water, and mark the day with fairs, rituals, and community feasts.

5️⃣ Aoling – Nagaland (Konyak Tribe) 🔥

Though tribal and not Hindu, it's celebrated at the same time — the Konyak Nagas mark the new year with music, feasting, and traditional dances.
