Did U.S. Warships Ever Lose to Japanese Ships?
#shorts #history
Yes, especially early in the war. Before the turning point at the Battle of Midway, the U.S. Navy was often struggling to keep up. Japanese ships and crews were very skilled in night battles, and several American ships were sunk during night fights around Guadalcanal Campaign. Even during Midway, Japanese forces managed to badly damage USS Yorktown (CV-5) before it was finally finished off by a Japanese submarine. So the U.S. did suffer losses, especially while it was still learning how to fight large naval wars.
