Ian Simms, the man jailed for the murder of Helen McCourt in 1988, was released from prison earlier this week. Simms has always denied Helen’s murder and despite numerous searches for her body, the 22-year-old's remains have never been found. Mother of Marie McCourt tells us about the time that she wrote to Ian in prison and the 'nasty reply' that she received from him.

Following her daughter's death, Marie McCourt has been campaigning for a change in the law urging the government to deny parole to killers who do not disclose the location of their victims' bodies. However, after serving 31 years of his life sentence, Simms has been allowed to walk free and Marie still does not know where her daughter lies.
