Taiex plunges by 547 points in year’s worst drop｜Taiwan News

Middle East tensions are continuing to weigh on markets. Taiwan shares tumbled again on Tuesday, following a selloff on Wall Street. The Taiex ended at 19,901, after losing 547 points to mark its worst day all year.

TSMC lost NT$18 to finish at NT$788. UMC and MediaTek ended lower by more than 3%. Institutional investors sold a net NT$57.2 billion, with foreign investors offloading more than NT$38.8 billion. The New Taiwan dollar tracked the loss, closing down at NT$32.490 against the greenback.
