The status of the MCU's Avengers isn't just a point of confusion for audiences but also for the residents of the MCU, as proven by one moment in 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home. Set roughly eight months after the events of Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: Far From Home dealt heavily with the impact of the Blip and the Avengers' battle against the Mad Titan Thanos. During Betty Brant and Jason Ionello's news blast in Midtown High School, they pose the question, "Are the Avengers even a thing anymore?" This implies that not even the citizens of the MCU know whether the world's heroes are still protecting them.

While the consensus suggests that the new Avengers team will form in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, it's possible that a version of the team could be seen or mentioned prior to the Phase 6 crossover film. The most logical place for this to happen would be in 2024's Captain America: Brave New World, which means the Phase 5 project could provide answers whether the Avengers had been officially disbanded or if they're simply waiting for an Avengers-level threat to come back together. Captain America has always been seen as the leader of the Avengers in the MCU, so this responsibility could fall on Sam Wilson in Brave New World.
