Exploring Abruzzo - Lanciano, Chieti, Abruzzo, Italy

Come for a walk with us around the historic centre of the wonderful town of Lanciano in the Chieti province of Abruzzo. Lanciano is famous for the first recorded catholic Eucharistic Miracle which we will tell you about.

We amble through some lovely old Abruzzo streets stopping off to admire the architecture including, narrow star vaulted passageways and the simple but beautiful exterior of the oldest church of Lanciano built in 1059.

We visit the Basilica Cattedrale della Madonna del Ponte, the Fonte del Borgho and the Church of St Francis where, in the 8th Century when Lanciano was knows as Anxanum the Eucharistic Miracle is said to have happened.

Lanciano is a great place to visit and is only 10km from the Adriatic coast in Abruzzo.
