BJP's Bhopal candidate for the Lok Sabha election of 2019 Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur stated that Mahatma Gandhi's killer Nathuram Godse was a 'deshbhakt' (patriot). Ravish Kumar asks on Prime Time whether BJP's ideology is any different from that of Pragya even though the party has distanced itself from her statement. Akhil Bhartiya Hindu Mahasabha in Uttar Pradesh had celebrated Gandhi's death in the recent past. In 2014, BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj had also called Godse a patriot during an event in Maharashtra held to venerate Gandhi's assassin.
