In this video, we dive deep into one of the most essential topics for Power BI developers — Power BI Dax functions: Union, Intersect and Except in Dax. These set functions help you combine, compare, and filter data tables with precision, enhancing your analytical capabilities in reports and dashboards. Let’s begin by exploring the UNION function. This DAX function merges two or more tables into a single table, stacking rows one after another. It’s extremely useful when you're combining datasets from multiple sources or when you need to display data side by side. In real-world applications, UNION is perfect for handling historical data snapshots, merging quarterly reports, or consolidating sales data from various regions.

Next, we move to the INTERSECT function. This function returns only the common rows between two tables. INTERSECT is especially helpful when filtering overlapping customer segments, identifying repeated transactions, or matching records between marketing and sales teams. It acts like a Venn diagram in your data model — highlighting only the intersection.

The third, and often misunderstood, function is EXCEPT. As the name suggests, it subtracts one table from another — returning rows that exist in the first table but not in the second. For example, you can use EXCEPT to identify which customers made a purchase last month but not this month.
