Francis Fukuyama, Olivier Nomellini Senior Fellow, Freeman-Spogli Institute for International Studies, and Mosbacher Director of Stanford's Center on Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law

There are three major lessons to be drawn from Ukraine's extended transition to democracy: (1) the importance of a vibrant civil society; (2) the importance of governance and the exercise of democratic power; (3) power and the control of corruption.
