Ultraseven X is the 20th entry in the Tsuburaya Productions' Ultraman Series. It is a revival of the 1967 series Ultraseven, and is the first Ultraman series to be exclusively for an adult audience and in wide screen high-definition format. The show first aired on October 5, 2007 at 2:15am on CBC and 2:25am on TBS. In the summer of 2006, Yukiko Omote, who produced Ultra Q: Dark Fantasy, suggested a new project called Ultra Minds to to Chubu-Nippon Broadcasting, who were then showing Ultraman Mebius. She invited Takeshi Yagi to join once his filming for Mebius was finished, and also got Hiroyasu Shibuya and Yuji Kobayashi to help with the development. By early 2007, the project was restructured to commemorate Ultraseven's 40th anniversary through a new late-night series. Yagi took on both directing and series composition roles.
